Don't Mourn, Organize.

"We the corporations" On January 21, 2010, with its ruling in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, the Supreme Court ruled that corporations are persons, entitled by the U.S. Constitution to buy elections and run our government.

"FASCISM should more appropriately be called CORPORATISM because it is a MERGER of
State and Corporate Power."
Benito Mussolini (I found this quote on onepennysheet.com. Take a look. It is worth reading. It can be found on my link section)

Joe Hill said about his coming death for Union Organizing, "Don't mourn, organize." His words speak to us today!

The Supreme Court has shown once more that they are more interesting in serving their Corporate Masters than they are protecting the political freedom of the common man or woman. They have ruled that corporations can spend unlimited amounts of money to influence politicians and elections. Imagine the implications of that for the future of democracy in the United States.
The democrats, as usual, are scared shitliss and have taken the loss of the Massachusetts election to mean they should cave in even more to the right wing. They also recognize the implications of the Supreme Court ruling and will act accordingly, you can depend on that. Any politician who takes a stand against a corporations interest can now expect a corporate response in the next election. Any politician who seeks to serve big corporations interests at the expense of the planet and the people can expect help and support from those corporations. How sad and infuriating!

What are we progressive people to do? First what do I mean by progressive people. Progressive people fundamentally believe that the rights of people to enjoy a good and decent life should always come before the rights of corporations. We believe it is inherently wrong for large corporations to make huge profits when making those profits endanger the planet and or the people of the planet. We believe that every human being is entitled to share in the vast bounty of this planet to provide a good life for themselves and their families. This right to a good life cannot be tied to having a job when there are no jobs available or when the jobs do not pay enough to afford a decent life. Capitalism in it's present form has failed in serving the legitimate and necessary needs of the people of this planet every bit as much as as so called communism failed. New ways to distribute the abundance of the planet for the good of ALL of the people must be found and instituted.

I sincerely believe that there is a God. And I believe that She did not give us this precious gift of life to have Her children live in abject poverty, which is how most of the people on this planet are forced to live. Do you honestly feel in your heart that She wants us to let this travesty continue? Are we not called upon to help our brothers and sisters where, when, and how we can? I cannot believe that any one's idea of God lets them believe it is OK to stand passively by and let people continue to live such desperately poor lives. What are the real choices for most people on this planet? Abject, hopeless poverty or to be condemned to live as wage slaves or soldiers at the command of the rich and powerful. I cannot believe we were brought forth at birth to give our lives in service to corporations for the benefit of the very few people who enjoy the vast amounts of their profits. do you?

So what the hell are we going to do about it? I believe as an American that is the duty of every American to defend democracy when it is in danger, and it is in danger. I also believe that we are morally and ethically obligated to help our brothers and sisters who are in need to have a better life when and where and how we can. I believe that even if there is no God. And I believe that there are a lot of rich people and their lackeys who are really fucking over the people of this country and planet big time. These people, these oligarchs, are determined to grab even more power and more wealth with each passing day. And they are succeeding. This has to CHANGE! Frankly the only people who can change it are people like you and me here and all over the world. We need to get together in small and large groups and look at the world with fresh eyes until we can see what to do to make things better for humanity and the planet. Time is getting short and there is much we need to learn and do.
