Another Song I wish I could sing to the Democrats

This song is how I feel about The Democratic Party

This song reflects the betrayal I feel about Obama and the democrats saying they were on our side and then dancing with the Right and the Corporations. Johnny is Obama and the gang and Judy is the Right and the Corporations. This should be the Progressive theme song.

A Petition to Stop the Corporations from Buying Elections.

If you want to do something to help try to change the effects of the recent Supreme Court's ruling letting corporations spend unlimited money to effect Federal elections read the petition and sign it. If you agree with the petition pass it on to friends and family

Don't Mourn, Organize.

"We the corporations" On January 21, 2010, with its ruling in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, the Supreme Court ruled that corporations are persons, entitled by the U.S. Constitution to buy elections and run our government.

"FASCISM should more appropriately be called CORPORATISM because it is a MERGER of
State and Corporate Power."
Benito Mussolini (I found this quote on onepennysheet.com. Take a look. It is worth reading. It can be found on my link section)

Joe Hill said about his coming death for Union Organizing, "Don't mourn, organize." His words speak to us today!

The Supreme Court has shown once more that they are more interesting in serving their Corporate Masters than they are protecting the political freedom of the common man or woman. They have ruled that corporations can spend unlimited amounts of money to influence politicians and elections. Imagine the implications of that for the future of democracy in the United States.
The democrats, as usual, are scared shitliss and have taken the loss of the Massachusetts election to mean they should cave in even more to the right wing. They also recognize the implications of the Supreme Court ruling and will act accordingly, you can depend on that. Any politician who takes a stand against a corporations interest can now expect a corporate response in the next election. Any politician who seeks to serve big corporations interests at the expense of the planet and the people can expect help and support from those corporations. How sad and infuriating!

What are we progressive people to do? First what do I mean by progressive people. Progressive people fundamentally believe that the rights of people to enjoy a good and decent life should always come before the rights of corporations. We believe it is inherently wrong for large corporations to make huge profits when making those profits endanger the planet and or the people of the planet. We believe that every human being is entitled to share in the vast bounty of this planet to provide a good life for themselves and their families. This right to a good life cannot be tied to having a job when there are no jobs available or when the jobs do not pay enough to afford a decent life. Capitalism in it's present form has failed in serving the legitimate and necessary needs of the people of this planet every bit as much as as so called communism failed. New ways to distribute the abundance of the planet for the good of ALL of the people must be found and instituted.

I sincerely believe that there is a God. And I believe that She did not give us this precious gift of life to have Her children live in abject poverty, which is how most of the people on this planet are forced to live. Do you honestly feel in your heart that She wants us to let this travesty continue? Are we not called upon to help our brothers and sisters where, when, and how we can? I cannot believe that any one's idea of God lets them believe it is OK to stand passively by and let people continue to live such desperately poor lives. What are the real choices for most people on this planet? Abject, hopeless poverty or to be condemned to live as wage slaves or soldiers at the command of the rich and powerful. I cannot believe we were brought forth at birth to give our lives in service to corporations for the benefit of the very few people who enjoy the vast amounts of their profits. do you?

So what the hell are we going to do about it? I believe as an American that is the duty of every American to defend democracy when it is in danger, and it is in danger. I also believe that we are morally and ethically obligated to help our brothers and sisters who are in need to have a better life when and where and how we can. I believe that even if there is no God. And I believe that there are a lot of rich people and their lackeys who are really fucking over the people of this country and planet big time. These people, these oligarchs, are determined to grab even more power and more wealth with each passing day. And they are succeeding. This has to CHANGE! Frankly the only people who can change it are people like you and me here and all over the world. We need to get together in small and large groups and look at the world with fresh eyes until we can see what to do to make things better for humanity and the planet. Time is getting short and there is much we need to learn and do.

A email between me and C about the election and Obama

Candy: I have not been this depressed about politics in years. Most of the hope I had that Obama was somehow different and could lead us in a better direction faded months ago but last nights election removed any hope I had for a better future for the people of this country. Obama and the Democrats fucked it up BIG TIME and as usual we all have to pay for it. Oh well I just had to cry a little on your shoulder. Also sad to report that the workers at DAM rejected the Union. But given the corrupt nature and ineffectiveness of most union I do not blame them. Most people did not believe a Union would help them and did not want to pay the Union dues to just get empty promises. That is what I was told by most people I spoke with before and after the ballot. I am on permanent disability now so I no longer work there.

Love River

Oh dear old friend. The more things change the more they stay the same. When we look outside, we feel pain and suffering--when we look inside we feel the peace we seek. I know you don't expect that to change. Resist manipulation by the tides of corporate media-fed perspectives on what it going on in this country and world.

So--how do I feel? I still feel proud that the US elected a man of African descent president. I still see that capitalism is a flawed economic system out of balance in its powerful grip on the planet. I still feel that you and the others from Kent SDS are uniquely beautiful beings--full of angst and pain and joy--full of intellectual analysis and heart. I still like music. I still seek community.

13 days from now will mark the anniversary of my son, Josh's, death. Watching him die on that bed is etched in my mind, and what I have to say to you today is informed by what I saw there--just as everything I'll do today.

We are alive River--we have the gift of life. That's nothing to take for granted and nothing to laugh about. One day that deathbed will be ours, and this moment--this breath--is all that separates us from an unknown experience. We are here, and our bodies force us--by their very makeup and nature--to see the differences between us. Our brains don't grasp that which is beyond the scope of one lifetime because we don't experience that in any direct way with our senses.

An analysis of what's wrong in the world is what makes the left strong. An analysis of what's wrong in the world is also what makes the left eat its own young. We have a hard time accepting that one man--one president--cannot make the changes we desire to see in the world. How is that a surprise to us? We are so isolated and powerless that we expect a president--one man--like some superhero in tight clothes--to put on the pressure to change coal into diamonds--to make the world turn backwards on its axis. Right? No. Without a powerful movement of the people--no politician can push change. He'd die just like so many we saw die before him if he tried. Obama can't win--neither can the Democrats--neither can the Republicans luckily. It's a chumps game--stacked deck.

Can't wait to hug you in May.

Love, c.
